Dondi West represents clients in matters involving technology, business, cybersecurity, national-security affairs, and litigation. His experience as a former U.S. Navy Information Warfare Officer also informs his work with military professionals and their dependents in divorce proceedings.
His professional background includes more than a decade of legal practice, active-duty service as an Information Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, and work as a cybersecurity consultant and trusted advisor to Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Executive Branch organizations.
Mr. West also counsels small businesses, technology start-ups, and government contractors on business formation, contract drafting and negotiation, intellectual property, technology transactions and licensing, cybersecurity, privacy, e-commerce, and government-contracting matters. His work in those areas has included transactional and litigation questions, proposals, subcontractor, teaming, and licensing agreements, and bid protests.
Dondi has been recognized by the Maryland Daily Record as one of Maryland’s 40 Very Important Professionals (VIPs) Under 40 and by Black Engineer & Information Technology Magazine as a Distinguished Historically Black College and University Alumni. In 2014, he was named to the Maryland Super Lawyers Rising Stars List in Technology Transactions. He serves on the Board of Directors for INNterim Housing Corporation, a nonprofit that provides shelter, support, and job training to homeless mothers.
Dondi earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law, where he was an editor on the Maryland Law Review. He also holds an M.Sc. in Applied Information Technology from Towson University and a B.S. in Mathematics from Alabama A&M University. Mr. West holds the CISSP certification and is an Affiliate Professor at Loyola University Maryland, where he teaches Legal, Ethical, and Global Perspectives of Cybersecurity.
